Tak skal du have, Erik

Now it is time to thank a mysterious Erik, who has sent the link to an interesting video, made this year in Stockholm on the Jantelov. It has English subtitles, and it is only a minute long, so go ahead, watch. It emphasizes the oppressive aspects of Janteloven – to say the least. Especially considering certain other experiences I have had today, the critique made in the video is timely.

Axé.

  1. A very good video, thanks for this.

Still I don’t know where to view myself in this scheme, I do know that it exists in all types of society, but I don’t know whether this is a good ‘law’ to base one’s life on. . . . Or whether it is better to pretend that you’re ignorant that this has even an ounce of truth to it.

I first heard of Jante’s Law when Kathleen (HAH!) wrote about it at some god-forsaken, complacent, and tiny-minded site.

  2. Ah, the talents of Kathleen … she knows about everything! And no, it’s not a good ‘law’ to base one’s life on, it’s a Bane, I do believe, in my re-sub- definition of Bane: a piece of ‘wisdom’ or ‘truth’, widely accepted and repeated as liberating, but in fact based upon a fallacy and used as a control mechanism.

  3. The one that repelled me most was not being able to laugh at them. In which case: bwahahahahahaha!
    Take that :o)
